If you’ve been searching for a Bruder mask alternative, you already know the idea: a mask filled with beads that you heat in the microwave for about 20 seconds, then rest over closed eyes for gentle moist heat. Bruder made that format popular. The masks themselves work in a very similar way. Where they really differ is price, delivery and how many you get.
We make one of those alternatives, the Anudra Moist Heat Eye Compress. Everything below is a fact you can check yourself, with the date we checked it.
This is general information, not medical advice. If an eye doctor has given you a routine, follow it.
The short version
- Same format: microwave mask, self-hydrating beads, moist heat with no water, 20 to 25 seconds to heat.
- One mask, delivered: $20.99 with free US shipping in 3–5 business days, versus $22.95 plus paid US shipping on Bruder’s official shop.
- Sets: our 2-pack ($32.99) costs less than a single Bruder mask with US shipping.
What a moist heat eye compress does
Warm, moist heat on closed eyelids softens the oils in the small glands along the lid edge, so they flow more easily. That’s why warm compresses are so often suggested for dry, tired eyes. A washcloth does the same thing but goes cold within a couple of minutes. A bead mask holds its heat for the whole session, so you can lean back and relax.

Why a set makes sense
Masks get replaced. Bruder’s own care instructions say that if you use a mask daily, you should consider replacing it after about six months. A 2-pack covers a year of daily use.
Compresses shouldn’t be shared. Especially when someone at home has a stye, everyone should have their own. With a 3-pack, everyone does, at $16 a mask.
One for home, one for away. Keep one by the microwave at home and one at work or in your travel bag.
It’s simply cheaper. Our 2-pack costs $32.99 delivered anywhere in the US. One Bruder mask from the official shop costs $34.64 or more once US shipping is added.
How to choose a moist heat eye compress
Whatever brand you look at, these are the things that matter day to day:
- Moist heat, not just warmth. Self-hydrating beads release moisture on their own. No water, no dripping on your pillow.
- Holds heat for a full session. Look for 10 minutes or more of steady warmth from one heating.
- A contoured shape over both eyes and an adjustable strap, so it stays put without pressing and your hands are free.
- Hand-washable. You’ll use it often, so it has to be easy to keep clean.
- The real price. Check the price with shipping, and whether a set brings the cost per mask down.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Anudra compress the same as a Bruder mask?
No. They’re different brands. Both are microwave masks with self-hydrating beads that give moist heat, used the same way.
How long should I microwave a moist heat eye mask?
About 20 to 25 seconds. Start with 20, test the temperature on the inside of your wrist, and never go over the maker’s maximum time.
How long should I keep it on?
Around 10 minutes is a typical session. Ours stays warm for 12 to 15 minutes, so you have time to spare. If your eye doctor gave you a routine, follow that.
How often should I replace a heated eye mask?
Bruder suggests replacing a mask after about six months of daily use. That’s a good rule of thumb for any bead mask, and one reason a 2-pack makes sense.
Do you ship for free?
Yes. Shipping within the US is free, and orders usually arrive in 3–5 business days.
Can I use it for a stye?
Warm compresses are usually the first thing suggested for a stye. See our guide on how to use a warm compress for a stye.
