Good build quality, ambi-ocular, reasonably comfortable!

I ordered this patch to use for a pirate costume around Halloween, expecting something cheap and flimsy. Turns out it really is made from leather, and has a fairly comfortable design that will fit either eye. It’s simple to adjust the band to fit the patch tightly, and while it was a little stiff to begin with , after some wear time the leather changes shape a bit to fit your individual skull.

It makes a nearly perfect seal over my eyes, so would be useful if you needed to fully block light. The foam is not overly squishy, but reasonably comfortable.

Only complaint I have is that it doesn’t appear intuitive how to remove the band for washing, and I expect it would get a little funky after some wear time, exercising or running around in a costume. Overall well worth the price, I think it would be decent for permanent use.

This will be great for a first aid kit, and will work well for daily use, if it fits you well

I had a bout of Bell’s Palsy a few years ago, and was unable to blink on one side of my face for a while. An eye patch was needed to help keep that eye covered and from drying out, and I wish I’d found a decent quality, non-oriented patch like this one at the time, because it kind of sucks to pay higher prices for nicer eye patches and only be able to wear them on one side, should the need arise to cover the other eye later.

It is nice that this one is designed to fit either eye. And that may work very well on some faces, but there may be some compromises made for others. While the „3D“ feature keeps the patch out far enough that it does not press on the eye or eyelashes, the overall contour of the foam used to „seal“ the patch does not do quite as well at blocking light around the corners of either of my eyes, compared to how well my fitted eye patch does, on the eye its designed for.

That said, this would certainly be better than nothing in a pinch, and its versatility would be handy to have in any first aid kit. In such cases having it available is probably more important than having the perfect fit.

The eye patch itself looks good and the leather is finished well with no obvious finish defects, burrs, or fuzzing at the edges. The band that goes around the head is very long and can be adjusted for any size of head, and is wide enough to be comfortable for a full day’s wear.

Value-wise, this is mixed. While it is priced about on par with other leather, fitted (specifically left or right) eye patches or sets of patches, you can shop around and find absolutely identical eye patches for as little as one-third of what this one costs. Those cheaper versions may or may not have the foam padding around the edge that this version highlights, but given that I had trouble getting a fully light-tight seal with this one, the foam might not be worth the upcharge.

That said, face and eye shapes are absolutely unique, and what isn’t a perfect fit for me or any other person is likely to be spot-on for someone else. So all else being equal, I’d say this is probably one to keep on your short list if you’re shopping around and other patches don’t quite seem to fit you, and is probably worth adding to your cart if you’re ordering several styles at once to find out which works best for you.

Durable, comfortable patch for daily wear

This is a high quality leather patch that I got to use with my costume for the Renfaire. Well I did purchase this for a costume, I went for a high quality product because wearing something on your eye for an entire day can be super uncomfortable. I wanted to get a product that was designed for everyday wear, and this premium handmade leather eye patch did not disappoint. The material is hard and protective for the wearer, but the adjustable strap makes it perfect for any person who wants to wear it, be it man or woman. It is also adjustable and can be worn on either eye, which is great if you have a weaker eye and need to wear it for a medical reason. In my case, I found the patch to be comfortable throughout the day, the soft cushioning around the eye socket providing the additional support. I felt the product was really affordable for what it provided. The material was clearly very well developed, with a leather patch and adjustable strap. Everything was high quality and comfortable to wear for a 5-ft poor woman with an average build.
