One of the main indications for use:
- Amblyopia (Lazy Eye): Amblyopia is a condition where one eye has significantly reduced vision compared to the other eye. In children, an eye patch may be used to cover the stronger eye, forcing the weaker eye to work harder and improve visual acuity.
- Strabismus (Crossed or Misaligned Eyes): Strabismus is a condition where the eyes are misaligned and do not work together. In some cases, an eye patch may be used as part of the treatment plan to strengthen and improve coordination in the weaker eye.
- Diplopia (Double Vision): Diplopia is a condition where a person sees double images. An eye patch may be recommended in certain cases to temporarily alleviate double vision by blocking the vision from one eye.
- Eye Trauma or Surgery: After certain eye surgeries or traumatic injuries to the eye, an eye patch may be prescribed to protect the eye, reduce strain, and aid in the healing process.
- Eye Exercises and Vision Therapy: Eye patches can be used as part of vision therapy or eye exercises to enhance visual skills and improve eye coordination. They may be alternated between the eyes to stimulate visual development.
- ShortSight (Myopia)
